Female Sex Hormones Upregulate the Replication Activity of HIV-1 Sub-Subtype A6 and CRF02_AG but Not HIV-1 Subtype B

چکیده

More than 50% of all people living with HIV worldwide are women. Globally, HIV/AIDS is the leading cause death among women aged 15 to 44. The safe and effective methods hormonal contraception an essential component preventive medical care in order reduce maternal infant mortality. However, there limited knowledge regarding effect hormones on rate viral replication infection, especially non-B subtypes. goal present work was study vitro how female β-estradiol progesterone affect HIV-1 subtypes A6, CRF02_AG, B. findings show that high doses enhanced sub-subtype A6 by average 1.75 times recombinant variant CRF02_AG 1.4 but did not subtype No difference detected expression CCR5 CXCR4 co-receptors cell surface, either presence or absence hormones. one reasons for increased could be modulated TLRs secretion, as it found estradiol upregulated, varying degrees, TLR2 TLR9 genes PBMCs donors infected A6.

The HIV-1 integrase G118R mutation confers raltegravir resistance to the CRF02_AG HIV-1 subtype.

BACKGROUND Most of the previous studies that explored the molecular basis of raltegravir resistance were conducted studying the HIV-1 B subtype. It has been shown that the CRF02_AG subtype in relation to its natural integrase (IN) sequence could develop different genetic pathways associated with raltegravir resistance. The aim of this study was to explore resistance pathways preferably used by ...

Genetic Characteristics, Coreceptor Usage Potential and Evolution of Nigerian HIV-1 Subtype G and CRF02_AG Isolates

HIV-1 CRF02_AG and subtype G (HIV-1G) account for most HIV infections in Nigeria, but their evolutionary trends have not been well documented. To better elucidate the dynamics of the epidemic in Nigeria we characterised the gag and env genes of North-Central Nigerian HIV-1 isolates from pregnant women. Of 28 samples sequenced in both genes, the predominant clades were CRF02_AG (39%) and HIV-1G ...

The global spread of HIV-1 subtype B epidemic

Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) was discovered in the early 1980s when the virus had already established a pandemic. For at least three decades the epidemic in the Western World has been dominated by subtype B infections, as part of a sub-epidemic that traveled from Africa through Haiti to United States. However, the pattern of the subsequent spread still remains poorly understood. ...

HIV-1 subtype B epidemic and transmission patterns in Slovenia.

In the present study the epidemic of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) subtype B in Slovenia during the 10-year period was investigated using phylogenetic analysis of pol gene sequences. 119 pol sequences generated on samples dated from January 1996 to December 2005 were retrieved from the database of Slovenian HIV/AIDS Reference Laboratory. The phylogenetic analysis revealed 14 poten...

Drug Resistance in Non-B Subtype HIV-1: Impact of HIV-1 Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitors

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) causes approximately 2.5 million new infections every year, and nearly 1.6 million patients succumb to HIV each year. Several factors, including cross-species transmission and error-prone replication have resulted in extraordinary genetic diversity of HIV groups. One of these groups, known as group M (main) contains nine subtypes (A-D, F-H and J-K) and causes ...
